About Us

W2W Carbon Craft is a regenerative innovation platform transforming agricultural waste into certified biocarbon for industrial decarbonisation. We accelerate the transition from fossil carbon to circular, ethical alternatives—starting with the steel sector, where the need for viable substitutes is urgent and unmet.

What We Do

  • Feedstock valorisation: We convert palm kernel shells (PKS)—a widely available, often discarded agricultural by-product—into high-performance biocarbon tailored for metallurgical use.

  • Technical excellence: Our UK-based pilot has demonstrated promising results, with PKS biocarbon meeting key steelmaking criteria: high fixed carbon, low ash, and strong reactivity.

  • Ethical sourcing: We uphold Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) in all sourcing regions, ensuring community rights, land tenure, and environmental stewardship.

  • Certification alignment: Our site control protocols guarantee traceability and compliance, with documentation aligned to UK and EU frameworks for carbon accounting, sustainability reporting, and industrial emissions.

 Why PKS Biocarbon for Metallurgy?

Produced via controlled pyrolysis of palm kernel shells, PKS biocarbon delivers:

  • Carbon content ~90% for effective reduction reactions

  • Low ash and sulphur for cleaner metallurgical processes

  • Stable particle distribution for process consistency

  • Circular origin—valorising agricultural waste, not extracting fossil carbon

  • Certified carbon removal potential through durable biochar fractions

 Applications Across Steelmaking

1. Blast Furnace Injection / Coke Replacement  PKS biocarbon can substitute metallurgical coke, enabling:

  • Up to 30% COâ‚‚ reduction in conventional steelmaking

  • Reduced reliance on fossil imports

  • Enhanced process control via tailored reactivity

2. Direct Reduction (DRI) with Green Hydrogen  In hydrogen-based DRI, PKS biocarbon complements Hâ‚‚ by:

  • Stabilising temperature profiles

  • Reducing hydrogen demand

  • Supporting hybrid reduction pathways

3. Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF)  In EAF operations, PKS biocarbon serves as:

  • Carburising agent for carbon tuning

  • Slag conditioner for metallurgical efficiency

  • Energy carrier for thermal stability

 Strategic Benefits

  • Defossilisation: No fossil carbon extraction, no new atmospheric COâ‚‚

  • Technical performance: Lower contaminants, consistent quality

  • Economic resilience: Regionally sourced, price-stable, and scalable

  • Policy alignment: Supports CBAM, EU Green Deal, and climate-positive procurement

Our Story: From Coal Dust to Carbon Craft
W2W Carbon Craft was born from a legacy of grit, transition,
and regeneration.

“My late grandfather, William Charles Davage, began working underground at just 14 in the Cwmcarn Colliery, Risca, South Wales. Like many of his generation, he spent a lifetime in the coal mines—fuelling Britain’s industrial rise with sweat and coal dust.

But as the coal industry declined, so too did the livelihoods it sustained. Communities built around fossil energy were forced to adapt.

That spirit of adaptation runs deep in our family.

My mother, Angeline Davage, originally from Malaysia, brought with her a deep understanding of palm oil production and agricultural systems. Her expertise in biomass supply chains and regulatory frameworks laid the foundation for a new kind of carbon enterprise—one that honours the past while building a regenerative future.

W2W Carbon Craft was established to be that future.

We transform agricultural residues into certified biocarbon for industrial decarbonisation—offering steelmakers a viable, ethical alternative to fossil carbon. Our work bridges generations, geographies, and industries.

From the coalfields of South Wales to the regenerative landscapes of Malaysia, our story is one of transition—with carbon at the centre, and climate resilience as our goal.”
